If you’re looking for a place to “kick back” and enjoy a change of pace, the neighboring counties of Watauga and Ashe in North Carolina’s High Country, joined by several routes including the Blue Ridge Parkway and NC Highway 194, are a wonderful place to start!
Ashe County is in the northwest corner of the state bordering Tennessee and Virginia. Its rural character and numerous Christmas tree farms add to the small town charm of its main streets, the waving hands of friendly neighbors, and the unbelievable mountain vistas. We have a thriving arts community, serving as a catalyst in the development of a strong arts movement and in the preservation of our mountain heritage.
Boone is the county seat of Watauga County, Ashe’s southern neighbor. Whatever your pleasure you can enjoy four real seasons filled with natural beauty, man-made art, outdoor recreation, festivals, shopping, picnicking or whatever lowers your blood pressure. Come visit us and find our own personal pleasure in the High Country.
This cooperative project of the
Ashe County Chamber of Commerce and the
Boone Convention and Visitors Bureau is our invitation to you to come visit the High Country of North Carolina. We think this is the most beautiful place in the country and would like you to come share our High Country Back Roads with us.
